Freshly ran by new creative director Liisa Kessler, the Swedish brand decides to playfully reinterpret the life and soul of 90s-era Filippa K as the wardrobe is inspired by collective and personal memories. A contemporary, modern twist is brought to the classic silhouettes and in doing so, brings a sense of ease and relaxation to the table.

Nostalgic references of Scandinavian summers are brought to light within the series, as a colour chart of nudes, vanillas, pure whites, and sophisticated blacks are encouraged with emblems of gold detailing. Refined, simple and worldly.

“I wanted the collection to feel easy to wear – light, fresh, uncomplicated, and effortless”, says Kessler – and the lookbook achieves just that.

Shot on a ferry, travelling between Helsinki and Stockholm, helps embody the collections getaway feel whilst still channelling the true roots of the brand. Accompanied by The Crossing, a film that aims to capture ideas of fantasy, reality and a déjà vu-like feeling of the recognisable, mirrors exactly what Kessler is aiming to perceive through her collection, as they begin with re-editioned icons that cast back to Fillipa K’s beginning.

Inspired by the Spring 2006 campaign, the first look showcases a cropped knit sweater with a long chain necklace and white capris that nods towards the house’s iconic stretch denim. Closely followed are denim jackets with bicolour carpenter jeans, alongside a re-editioned black denim skirt from the archives, worn with a cropped leather vest.

A range of fluid like dresses, a broderie anglaise blouse that pays homage to the craftsmanship of traditional Swedish blouses are also included, showing respect from the brand’s new leader. This effortless nature featured amongst the clothing, is also enough to inspire any thrill seeker to take a dip into leisurely strolls this summer instead.

“The feeling of comfort and the freedom of movement have always been at the core of the brand; it’s important to me to carry forward this heritage.”
