Dior announces new high jewellery collection – Les Jardins de la Couture

SINCE the New Look show of 1947, gardens have become a main focus of inspiration for Christian Dior, with Corolla skirts, embroidered or brocaded roses, floral trims and pastoral prints featuring in a variety of collections throughout the years.

With its delightful femmes-fleurs, Victoire de Castellane, Creative Director of Dior Joaillerie, also followed the nature design pathway with her ethereal pieces since 1999. Another ingenious world this designer excels in is couture itself, whether that be its motifs, its techniques, the textures or the characteristics of its fabrics, the result is always phenomenal.

As an ode to the sheer savoir-faire of jewellery-making and Dior’s exceptional stones, Les Jardins de la Couture carries 170 pieces that include three secret watches, adorned with gems that represent the splendours of the plant world. Stones are intricately placed to appear like petals, bouquets of country blooms, or dazzling flowerbeds to encapsulate the perfection of spring. Like a wearable garden party.

Abstract motifs are displayed in an architectural light, as contrasting colours boast out of their positions to portray the childhood memories of places like Granville, Milly-la-Forêt, or La Colle Noire in Montauroux. The three gardens are so close to the heart of Christian Dior.

Flowers, butterflies and rainbows are intertwined, as well as gold-beaded threads to add those finishing touches of a couture spirit. The jewellery becomes transformable as some stones with an inspiring number of carats can be detached, allowing rings to be placed upon several fingers and brooches to remind us that men are also free to express their love for flowers.
