AT Isa Arfen’s presentation for LFW SS17, the floor was divided by tape into different sections where pretty and simple looking models were playing out different daily actions such as braiding each other’s hair. Idly reading magazines and arranging flowers, it seemed like a living doll’s house. Designer Serafina Sama was inspired by the Omo Valley tribes in Ethiopia. She produced classic-cut pieces such as high waisted peg leg trousers, off the shoulder tops, A line skirts and oversize coats, and at the other end of the spectrum prints and shades were very interesting.
It was a mixture of relief block colour pieces and graphic African body paint inspired patterns. Textiles were natural, including a lot of cotton, linen and feather details, and so was the colour palette in the tones of beige, khaki, blue and white. Glass’ illustrator Tyler Cookson illustrated the collection in these images.
