Hayaty Diaries celebrates Arab female creativity in debut London exhibition

TRANSPORTING the beauty of emerging female creativity in the Arab nations, Hayaty Diaries opens the doors to this hidden art space on 29 November – 4 December 2023 in debut London exhibition, Through Their Eyes: Perspective Unveiled.

Founded in September 2022 by duo Kinzy Diab and Christina Shouciar, the collective hope to shed a light on the emerging voices in contemporary art, injecting more diversity into London’s art market.

Sharing their stories to UK-based collectors and art enthusiasts, their first exhibit has been carefully curated to showcase the work of nine artists from across the region. Together the pieces explore the fundamental question as to whether art should be defined by its maker or made to be interpreted.

Particularly poignant in the Middle East for female creators as external factors like patriarchal systems, cultural expectations and societal perceptions beyond their control can manipulate the answer to this query.

Work by Farah Foudeh

Displaying the works of Aliyah Alawadhi, Huda Jamal, Nour Ammar, Sara Benabdallah, Farah Foudeh, Yasmina Hilal, Mays Al Moosawi, Kinda Adly and Amira Nazer, the Gallery@oxo will transform into a place where preconceived notions are challenged and meaningful conversations are sparked.
