Jacquemus debuts SS20 for their 10th anniversary show

STRAIGHT out of a Van Gogh painting, the rolling hills of Provence were the backdrop for Jacquemus’ 10th anniversary show. Titled Le coup de soleil, or sunburn in English, the show was a celebration of summer and the south of France, with a fuchsia coloured catwalk set among fields of lavender, emphasising the beauty of the surroundings.

The catwalk was a wash of bright and light colours – a summer rhapsody. Sky blues contrasted with burnt orange, lotus print shorts with pastel coloured oversized blazers. Clothes were loose fitting, perfect for making the most of every last bit of summer breeze.

Simon Porte Jacquemus shows that even in summer, layering is key. A long translucent dress with orange embroidery was layered over white wide leg trousers, complete with a white blazer slung effortlessly over the ensemble. Another model wore a Merlot red leather-look dress over white trousers, finished with dainty white barely-there sandals.

Accessories included Jacquemus’ classic straw shopping totes, as well as minuscule handbags, an iconic look of the house. These were the finishing touches to a collection which could be equally at home relaxing in a Gîte in the south of France, or strolling through the streets of Le Marais.
