LFW SS18: Margaret Howell

SIMPLICITY taken to the seas for SS18 as designer Margaret Howell merges her signature styles with nautical themes and natural colour scheming. Cuban collars and navy neck ties, the smart-casual silhouettes seen at the LFW show had a sharpness about their quality that feels forward-thinking as Howell presents styles appropriate for wearing day through to night. The gender fluid looks featuring oversized collars and wide-leg trousers are complimented with marine stripes and leather sandals that look to be inspired by the business districts of London and Scandinavian sophistication.

Making fashion entirely wearable is a quality Howell has in all of her designs, pressed fresh and defined. Trending tartan, long lime socks and stand-out duffer coats can be imagined worn by diverse demographics and this is key to her success. Howell may be repetitive, potentially predicable but why change what works? Clean-cut is certainly desirable in our decade and Margaret Howell is able to provide us with this gimmick-free.
