Diane von Furstenberg’s relevance is unquestionable. In New York this season the design icon proved that with a display of her ineffable knack for dressing up and woman while simultaneously dressing her down, for day, for night and for taking over the boardroom and the bedroom soon after. DVF summed it up after the show, “By day she commands her world, by night she inspires fantasy… ”.
Rest assured though, we were hooked on this season’s monochrome palette from the beginning and the ensuing dainty pinstripe wrap ensembles set against sundresses in nocturnal florals soon forged a stylish bond. Diane still dresses for the jet-set unequivocally so layers of outerwear were generally scrapped in favour of pleasure cruise frocks in vivid red lace that could be worked into a winter wardrobe with the right essentials. These were the kind of pieces that would make a party come alive during the festive season so if you want all eyes on you later on this year, you already know where to look.
Updating her more formal codes worked wonders more than ever this time around, highlighting the impact of a singular electric cobalt suit for instance, but furthermore NY’s resident lady-luxe made it clear why she is still such a brand name after however many years turning riches to designer rags and vice versa.
