PFW AW15: Kenzo

This season, Kenzo brought back the pattern that they are known for. Last season, to the shock of many, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon didn’t really embrace the pattern as they usually do. But this season they took it to the extreme.

Throughout the entire show there is a variety of colour in pattern, all done in an eastern fashion that works well as it is presented on the runway. Each outfit contains what appear to be at least three layers, but it does add to the effect and makes the patterns stand out even more, as well as the build-up of thick textures such as fur and heavy knits.

Kenzo appears to be behind the movements of large bulky coats, ponchos and crazy amounts of fringe this season as they can be seen in the majority of outfits put out onto the runway. It’s all a bit wacky and quirky, the way Kenzo tends to be and it’s reassuring to see them getting back into their comfort zone.

The Kenzo wearer won’t be ignored this autumn with their floral prints, fringed tops and dramatically cut clothing. It all adds up to a specific consumer that wants to show off their quirks.
