SHOWCASED in the Palais de Tokyo, the latest Rick Owens collection Sisyphus continued to develop the androgynous aesthetic he’s known for. A neutral palette and visible stitching lends a rawness, which is enhanced by cut-outs exposing skin and natural hair.
Starch white make-up and the addition of extreme oversized silhouettes added an extra-terrestrial element, skewing the perception of the human form. The heavy use of black and a contrast of soft and strong lines contribute to a dominant illusion.
The controlled use of materials layered to create depth is heightened by Owens’ minimal use of high-shine fabrics. The previous use of utilitarian pockets and trims has been adapted to shape this futuristic collection.
