THE GROVE, a luxury country-house hotel set within 300 acres of countryside in the heart of Hertfordshire, has recently re-opened its Glasshouse restaurant after undergoing a dramatic renovation. This glamorous property dates back to the 1500s and was formerly the home of the Earl of Clarendon.
The Glasshouse dining area
A striking conservatory with a domed roof and floor-to-ceiling windows is the most striking addition to the restaurant. Al fresco dining besides the manicured ornamental garden terrace is now available in the summer.
The Glasshouse bartenders
Executive head chef Stephen Wheeler has created a unique quality buffet dining experience with live cooking stations, each offering a choice of international cuisines, manned by an experienced chef from the cuisine region. For a set price guests can indulge in a huge choice of dishes, including fresh pastas, made-to-order sushi, and a grill featuring an extensive array of freshly prepared fish and meats. Particularly impressive is the broad range of vegetarian and vegan options with allergen information displayed next to each item.
Cooking stations at The Glasshouse
The Glasshouse’s pastry chef personally oversees the massive display of sumptuous cakes and desserts. Amongst the colorful line-up are platters of fruit, a melt-in the-mouth cheesecake, vegan chocolate brownies and a flowing chocolate fountain with a multitude of treats for dipping.

The Glasshouse Bar has also become a local destination for those who appreciate a diverse selection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, with many ingredients sourced from the hotel’s herb garden.
