British designer Beatrix Ong – releases book A Bee and A Tree

NOTED shoe designer Beatrix Ong MBE has released picture book A Bee and A Tree, for ages 3 to 150 years old. Following a bee’s journey of chasing her dreams despite facing difficulty, Ong created the story for her goddaughter as a reminder that it is okay to make mistakes, be let down and to be disappointed. Dedicated to “anyone who has ever tripped, been pushed over, or fallen”, the book carries an important message, which is not only applicable to the lives of children, but adults as well.

Written six years ago, and based on events which Ong experienced shortly prior, the book is a refreshing and uplifting tale, focused on overcoming problems and emerging stronger.

Ong both wrote and illustrated the book, but left an outlet for the reader’s creative expression, welcoming them to colour in the pictures if they please. By allowing the reader to project themselves into the book, A Bee and A Tree becomes an interactive space for the reader, putting them into the Bee’s very own shoes.

Future events including readings, signings and book sales are being planned with charities, hospitals, schools and libraries.
